8 years ago, Skyline Window Coverings began, with a mission to serve locally made products to the Chicago area, then adding the Portland and Vancouver, WA divisions. Now with a showroom in Lakeview and another division in Roseville, CA, the team has expanded, but the mission remains the same. Skyline has thrived in delivering exceptional products and providing unmatched service to its clients. But, our world has suddenly changed, and small businesses around the country are realizing that things may never be the same. Now is the time to support small businesses and embrace what’s closest to you.
Choose Locally Made.
Sometimes it isn’t obvious where our products come from, which might mean you have to do some research to find locally made products or services in your area. When Skyline opened, we chose Hunter Douglas. Not only for the quality but because the products are made right here in the USA.
You probably think that a big company like Hunter Douglas means that everything is manufactured in big factories, in big cities. The truth is, Hunter Douglas products are locally made in small towns: Bessemer City, North Carolina. Broomfield, Colorado. Cumberland, Maryland. The small town of Bessemer City, which has under 5,000 residents, produces 7 product lines, like our beloved Provenance Woven Woods. This means job security for the people of our country, which is so important during this questionable time.
Support Small Businesses.
It’s easy to feel helpless right now, but it’s easier than you think to help your local small businesses. If you’re looking for a way to support locally-made products and small businesses in your area, here are a few ways:
Leave a Review: 5 minutes of your time can make your local business’s day. Positive reviews are everything for businesses these days. This helps other people in your area find the business, meaning you’re helping secure future clients!
Refer the Business: Telling your friends about your favorite small businesses is easy and free! Plus, it’s a great way to help strengthen the business.
Buy a Gift Card: Many businesses are closed right now, but you can still show your support by buying a gift card. These small purchases are helping them stay afloat, pay their employees, and feed their families.
Follow on Social Media: We all know how big social media is right now. A simple follow or “like” will mean so much to your local business owners.
Give to a Nonprofit: Most towns have a local food pantry or shelter. Even a small donation will help these nonprofits support those in need during this time.
