We’ve all been spending way more time at home than ever before. We’re in this together, living through a time history hasn’t seen for 100 years. Whether you agree with it, or not, makes no difference. The best way we’ve decided to get through this is by asking: How can we help? Because we spend our lives with a mission to improve your homes, the least we can do in this moment in time is to offer inspiration to make your lives better under the current circumstances. After all, we’re in this together…
Your Healthy Home
What does it take to create a healthy home? None of this information will surprise you. But, if any of these aspects are lacking in your life, you should know…there ARE solutions. An ideal resource for you, the Sleep Foundation lists out ways to–not only improve sleep, but improve your life, in general.
We’ve compiled our top four ways to help you create a healthier, happier home.
- Stick to a schedule.
- Create comfort.
- Evaluate your space.
- Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine.
Stick to a Schedule.
Schedules help you feel more in-control over your life, living as close to “normal” as possible. When feeling cooped up in your home, this structure helps you break up the day. You’ll achieve more. Your kids will stay engaged. You’ll feel like you’ve got a chance for a fresh start each time another block of time has passed.
One way we help our clients create a rhythm to their lives is with Smart Shades. You might find it funny if you’re not living it. But, when your motorized shades adjust open, inviting in morning rays of sunshine, you’ll feel an increase of energy. When your energy efficient shades close off much of your window in mid-afternoon, you’ll be protected from that 2pm slump of exhaustion. In the evening, your kids will know it’s time for bed as the shades close up. Whether they have school the next day, or not, they need to get to bed. And, let’s face it, you need a break to binge watch your favorite show without children, right?
Create Comfort.
This one is a given–you want a comfortable home. But, are their projects you’ve been putting off because you just haven’t had time to think about it? If you’re like most people, you may have ideas about what you’ll do to your home “someday.” Guess what day it is? It’s Someday.
Does this mean you’ll get to all of it right away? Of course not. But, you’d be surprised how focusing on improving your home can help you–mentally–take a break from feeling stir crazy.
Evaluate Your Space.
One great way to start is by thinking about solutions. Taking a look around you to determine what each room needs is a great way to narrow down your list of priorities:
Sunshine, Sunshine, Sunshine.
We’re in this together. And, we don’t have to tell you how sunshine improves your life. It gives you energy. Sunshine elevates your mood. It can absolutely make you feel like a different person. The same is true of fresh air. It’s invigorating.
Here’s how we can help. First off, explore our solutions for convenient access to the outdoors. Then, consider how to create balance in your home. Like the old saying goes, “Too much of a good thing–is not a good thing.” This kitchen is a perfect example of how too much light streaming in can dampen the experience…
The glare is relentless. There would be no place to hide from the heat of the afternoon sun. Your neighbors would know your every move. And, those floors? They would end up ruined from unending UV rays. There’s hope!
The difference is the window shades. Now the atmosphere is peaceful, balanced and soft. It’s certainly not dark. You could still enjoy the view. The glare is gone. Privacy is under your control. The interior temperature can be maintained with less effort. And, those harsh UV rays? Just look at the difference.
