Get the Woven Look with Bamboo Shades

It’s all the rage in home design right now…earthy, organic fibers. We call them Woven Woods, but you probably know them as Bamboo Shades. Crafted from the natural fibers of bamboo, grasses, reeds and wood, the woven textures create a light-filtering visual display at the window. The individual patterning with each material collection is unique to that collection, giving you one-of-a-kind style in your home. Let’s take a closer look at our Provenance Woven Woods

The Balance of Trending & Timeless

While the “woven” look of organic fibers is certainly trending, don’t let the word “trend” scare you. Bamboo shades have become a staple of home design, weaving themselves (pun intended) through the hottest style statements for years now. They effortlessly style farmhouse looks, eclectic decor, modern rustic, contemporary casual…and so many more.

As with everything in the home design realm, they’ve evolved. Years ago, woven woods were more commonly known as matchstick blinds. It’s through evolution of design that new elements have been added, new materials and textures introduced. Bamboo shades are traditionally considered to be roman shades; however, with Hunter Douglas, you’ll find additional woven textured shades available as roman and roller shades.

Uniquely Crafted

Reeds, grasses, woods and bamboo can be used in the process of crafting each of the materials collections with our woven woods line-up. It’s those combinations of natural fibers, along with the specialty techniques used to weave the patterning that creates such a unique design. Many of the fabric collections for bamboo shades are available in two varying color-ways, some of them can range throughout four or more, resulting in over 80 different looks to choose from.

What about the Liners?

Many homeowners appreciate having liners on woven shades. These liners can be chosen in light-filtering and room darkening. They not only add additional light control, but they coordinate the appearance of the outside of your home. Liners can be attached or ordered to operate independently of the front shade. The newest innovation of our woven woods collection adds a secondary cellular shade with the front bamboo shade. Not only does this add light control, but incredible energy efficiency.

Effortless Operation with Motorized Shades

Bamboo shades can be controlled manually with cordless or by using a short, retractable cord. But, with motorized shades, you just have to sit back and relax, enjoying the atmosphere being created by your smart shades. One tap on a remote, or with the app on your phone, and you’ll set your window shades in motion. Even better, call out a voice command, or choose to set a schedule, and you won’t have to lift a finger.

More to Love about Bamboo Shades

Let’s talk about the lesser-known features of bamboo shades. We’ve got client favorites that you just have to see. Do you know that our woven woods collection is available in both horizontal and vertical orientation? That means you can get this textured look when covering windows, doors or both! They can be crafted to fit some specialty windows, like angled windows and bay windows. Our favorite? This top down look. Light comes in across the ceiling, but much of the window is blocked. At night, the privacy of this master bedroom is protected.
